Mailsports Donate Swim Hats For Thames Hospice Open Water Swim Challenge
Open Water Swim Challenge from Thames Hospice
On Sunday 2nd July, the Thames Hospice open water swim challenge took place – bringing together a range of avid swimmers to raise money for the hospice. Swimmers could choose from 500m swims to 10km swims to suit their swimming ability.
The exciting event took place at Bray Lake Watersports and was kindly sponsored by the Shanly Foundation. As the first of its kind for Thames Hospice, it was a terrific success, with 150 courageous supporters taking part.
The fundraising swimming event raised in excess of £37,000 for the hospice which is outstanding. Thanks to supporters, this amount of money could fund the cost of one nurse for 10 months.
Claire Redrup, head of community and events at Thames Hospice said:
“I loved the opportunity of organising and being part of our first ever Open Water Swim Challenge. It was wonderful on the day to take in the stunning surroundings at Bray Lake knowing that this incredible event has raised vital income for the Hospice. My colleagues and volunteers absolutely smashed it, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face all day and even managed a 1km swim myself! It was also very moving to hear stories of why our supporters chose to participate, many swimming in memory of a loved one. We are so grateful for the support of our community.”
What Is Thames Hospice?
Here are a few details about the charity.
For over 36 years, Thames Hospice has been providing much needed palliative and end of life care, in the East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire areas.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters, they are able to provide these services free of charge, to those in their local community.
In order to maintain the high standards of care that they so desperately strive for, they need to raise a staggering £38,000 PER DAY! This allows the hospice to operate 365 days a year.
Please feel free to donate to Thames Hospice so they can continue to provide support and much needed healthcare to those that need it most.
Free Swim Hats for Participants, Donated By Mailsports
The team at Mailsports chose to support the Thames Hospice swimmers, in the way they know best – Swimwear – or to be more specific, with swim hats.
Everyone that took part in this special event was provided with a Mailsports swim hat, ideal for the conditions of the Thames Hospice open water swim challenge.
Thames Hospice took to Facebook to thank Mailsports:
“Thank you to Philip from Mailsports Swimwear for donating our fabulous coloured swimming caps”.
After the successful swim challenge this year, we expect to see many more over the upcoming years for Thames Hospice!
