The main benefit of training with a Speedo pull buoy is that all strokes can be improved upon and endurance can be built up. By forcing the upper body to take the load, any weakness in that area can be corrected. Some swimmers find that they are able to swim faster whilst using the pull buoy. This is largely due to the fact that the legs are positioned in such a way as to minimise drag and resistance.
To get the most out of training with a pull buoy you will need to position it correctly. The ideal place to hold it is between the inner thighs. This will hold your body in the ideal position so that you can concentrate on improving your upper body technique. Correct positioning in the water will also allow you to swim for longer, getting more out of each training session.
