Hillingdon Swimming Club
Hillingdon Swimming Club is currently organised into 2 houses, Ruislip-Northwood Swim Squad (RNSS) and the Hillingdon Borough Elite Swimming Team (HBEST).
RNSS hold their main Friday Club night at Highgrove Swimming Pool in Ruislip. Highgrove is a 33 metre pool, which is a great bonus as a training pool because the extra length helps younger swimmers gain confidence and stamina. However, the fact that it cannot be classified as neither a ‘Short’ nor ‘Long’ Course pool, means that it is unsuitable as a venue for hosting galas.
HBEST are based at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, which is the home to a 50 metre pool that was opened in March 2010.
HBEST train weekly in the pool at its 50 metre capacity (as do the RNSS swimmers heading for HBEST), but will usually train in the pool at its 25 metre length. The 50 metre pool is an excellent facility meaning that Hillingdon Swimming Club can host sought after Long Course Events.
Alongside the 50 metre indoor pool is an incredible 67 metre outdoor lido – restored and then reopened in 2010 to its former 1930’s Art Deco glory, complete with a row of outdoor changing cubicles beside it and the original working fountains.
