Harpenden Swimming Club
Harpenden Swimming Club aims to develop each individual swimmer to their optimum and equip them with all the skills to achieve this.
The club is split into a competitive arm and teaching arm, both of which operate in the Harpenden area at different locations. The main competitive arm practices mainly at Harpenden Pool and St Albans High School for Girls, while the teaching arm (or the development squad) is based at St Albans High School for Girls.
Club members are placed into squads depending on their starting ability and have the chance to progress further up over time. The club places a great emphasis on technique and executing skills quickly over short distances with the younger swimmers, progressing through the distances as skills are solidified and swimmers move through the squads.
The club competes in the Hertfordshire Swimming Leagues and the National Arena League, Swim England Hertfordshire County Championships, East Region Regional Championships and send swimmers to both Swim England and British Summer Nationals. They also partake in numerous open meets throughout the year and hold internal galas.
Alongside the coaches, there is a team of volunteers on the committee who help the club run smoothly, as well as numerous officials who offer support during events ranging from internal galas to the regional championships.
If you’re interested in joining the club you can do so through their official website.
