Something great to Aspire to

 

Ever fancied swimming the English Channel? Well, we’ve got something that’s right up your street (or swimming lane). We’re asking swimmers everywhere to come together and swim the 22 miles that is the distance of the Channel in their local pool. The great news is that you’ll have 12 weeks to complete the Aspire Channel Swim 2009 challenge and you’ll be raising funds for a cause that’s as worthwhile as they come.

 

We’re one of the Aspire Channel Swim 2009 official sponsors. Aspire is a charity that works with people with spinal cord injuries to help them find new opportunities, enjoy independence and live life to the full. Right now, there are 40,000 people in the UK living with a spinal cord injury. And every day another four people are told they may never walk again.

 

All about Aspire’s work
The charity receives no government funding, which is why we’re so keen for all our readers to get behind the Aspire Channel Swim 2009. The money raised will make a big difference to people’s lives and will be used to buy specialist computer equipment, adapt housing to make it more accessible and provide specialist support and advice for people who have been recently injured.

 

We’re bringing the English Channel to a pool near you!
It’s easy to get involved with the brilliant Aspire Channel Swim 2009. All you need to do is swim 22 miles in your local pool over 12 weeks. A free fundraising pack includes all the info you need on how to raise and collect funds. And you’ll certainly be in good company. Swimmers across the nation have already raised almost £500,000 and celebrity sponsors include Mark Foster, Dermot O’Leary, Sharron Davies and Gail Porter.
